Millions of us had a new mobile phone for Christmas.
But few will have realised how much potentially-dangerous radiation some devices can pump out - and how much difference there is between models.
For the first time, the Sunday Mirror has drawn up a list of Britain's 20 top-selling mobiles and compared their specific absorption rates (SAR) - the electromagnetic radiation absorbed by the body,
measured in watts per kg.
The figures show a huge variation with some phones emitting three times as much radiation as others. The £400 state-of-the-art Sony Ericsson Satio has the highest levels at 1.59W/kg compared with 0.52W/kg by the Samsung S800.
Britain's top-selling phone - the Nokia 5800 - and the Christmas must-have iPhone both come halfway up the list.
